Artemisia

Today let's visit about sagebrush in the home landscape.  No, I'm not talking about our Wyoming Big Sagebrush - artemesia tridentata, but other plants in the sagebrush family - they all have outstanding qualities for a low water garden and are very unique and beautiful.

The first is Seafoam artemesia (Artemisia versicolor). It really does have the appearance of looking like coral found in the ocean.  It grows to be about 3 feet wide by 18 inches tall with finely filigreed silver gray foliage and stays that color year round.  Another is Powis Castle Artemisia (A. arborescenns 'Powis castle') at two feet tall it has surprisingly  soft silver-green foliage.  This one looks so delicate that you'd think it could not survive Wyoming conditions, don't be fooled!  It too will remain that color throughout the year.

Another added bonus is that both Seafoam and Powis castle are deer and rabbit resistant.
