Snow
Mold is a fungus disease that can affect a blue grass lawn in areas of
Wyoming that get a lot of snow. These molds appear as white-gray to
tan, yellowing or pinkish circular patches of grass. This disease gets
its name because it often appears with the melting of heavy snow or
occurs at the edges of a snow bank in the spring of the year.
This
problem is often associated with a thick unhealthy thatch layer in the
lawn. Certain grasses have much more resistance than other varieties.
So to avoid the problem, keep thatch layer to a minimum of a half inch
or less. Fungicidal treatments like Daconil are also an option.
